Sacred Spaces
Gifts to the Campaign for Sacred Spaces are in addition to your annual budget pledges. What are some creative ways to determine how to make a significant give for the three-year capital campaign?
- Dedicate your next raise or bonus to the campaign.
- Take your lunch rather than eating out or go out to eat fewer times each month and designate those funds for the campaign.
- Make weekly or monthly gifts rather than an annual or one-time donation.
- Give up season tickets to sporting events or the theater and use those funds for your pledge.
- Make a corporate gift from a company you own.
- Use a marketable skill you possess to make extra money for the campaign. Take a second job or come out of retirement for a part-time position.
- Transferring an asset to the church, rather than selling the asset and donating cash, is called a gift-in-kind. Examples include:
- A donation of appreciated investment property held more than one year – such as stock, mutual fund shares, bonds, real estate or collectibles – can have a tax advantage.
- There is also a potential tax advantage to designating you annual, mandatory IRA distribution to the church.
- Personal property such as automobiles, jewelry or other items of value can be donated directly to the church.
