Welcoming Heather Rose

We’re less than a week away from our new Pastor of Care and Belonging, Heather Rose, starting her ministry at FUMCLR. She officially starts July 1st and her first Sunday to lead in worship will be July 6th. The start of a new appointment is an exciting time for both a pastor and a church. For the pastor, there are nerves about learning a new community, doing a good job, and even making a good impression. For a church there are nerves about new leadership, helping someone feel welcome, and making a good impression. But for everyone there is a lot of excitement about new possibilities, new ministry opportunities, and sharing the God’s grace with new people. Over the next few months, there will be a lot of that for Heather and all of us.
Heather was raised in Perryville and she has two children, Aubrey (21) and Arlis (19). She has served churches in Dover, and Henderson UMC in Little Rock. She’s spent the last two years as the associate pastor at Asbury UMC in west Little Rock. Her favorite things in ministry are creating big church-wide events and planning creative worship experiences. I’m looking forward to her spirit and enthusiasm on our staff team.
We’re busy making plans to celebrate her arrival in the church office next week with some times to get to know one another. Then on Sunday, July 6th, there will be a reception after worship for you to meet her in person. Even though it’s a holiday weekend, I hope you’ll make a special effort to be in worship that Sunday to welcome Heather and begin living into that hopeful excitement for new ministry together.
Gracefully,
David
