Ross served as Presiding Elder (District Superintendent) for 10 years in the Christian Methodist Church Arkansas where he presided over 75 Pastors and Church congregations. He is an ordained Elder in Full Connection. He was elected President of the National Presiding Elder’s Council of the Christian Methodist Church in 2010. Ross retired from the Christian Methodist Church in 2014.
He is Founder and President of Ross Consulting Service LLC established in 2011 and specializes in Public Affairs and Policy Alliance Development and Community/Consumer Relations. Ross retired in 2000 from SWB/AT&T as an executive after 30 years of service. He is married to Lillian White Ross, a retired Tenured Professor and Chair of Language & Letters Dept. at Philander Smith College and an active member of First United Methodist Church Downtown Little Rock.
They have 3 Adult Children: Angela M. Ross, Larry W. Ross II, Esq., Erica Ross Hughes, and husband, Lenny L. Hughes, PLA, and 1 grandchild, Chase L. Hughes.
Ross is a 1969 graduate of Philander Smith College/University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. He earned his Master of Science Degree in 1971 in Early Childhood Education from State College of Arkansas (now University of Central Arkansas) and also completed additional graduate studies at the University of Indiana, Bloomington, and Arkansas State University-Jonesboro. Ross was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree in 1992, by Philander Smith College; an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree in 1999 by the Jackson Theological Seminary of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; and, an Honorary Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 2015 by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy.
Ross’ Civic Involvement includes:
A member of the Rotary Club of North Little Rock and Past President in 1998; a multiple Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow.
He was elected the initial Chair of the newly established State of Arkansas Independent Citizens Commission in 2014.
A former Chair AETN (PBS) Commission (1997-2003), and the AETN Arkansas (PBS) Foundation Board. A Past President and member of the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy 2009-2014
A former Chair, Board of Trustees, and Trustee Emeritus, Arkansas State University System (1986-1996)
A former Chair, Board of Trustees, and Trustee Emeritus, Philander Smith College, Little Rock, AR 2004-2014
He was elected and served as an Arkansas Delegate to the 1994 White House Conference on Aging.
