Lent 2025 : Beyond the Yellow Brick Road

“Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” we’re told. It will lead us to Oz where the Wizard will give us everything we need and want. It’s the path to success, glamour, and happiness. But whether it’s in The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, or Wicked, we learn that it’s all smoke and mirrors. In Lent, we follow Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem, where people expected him to take his throne. But we discover his journey was not about success and victory but humility, loss, and ultimately death. Yet, his path ultimately leads us to life more glorious that anything promised in Oz. Perhaps to discover the life God ultimately offers, we must take journeys beyond the Yellow Brick Road. Join us each Sunday of Lent, March 9 through April 13, at 9:00 and 11:00, as we take a journey Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.
