All Christmas Eve services originate from the “midnight mass.” It wasn’t until the late 1970s and early 80s that churches started offering services earlier in the evening to be more “family-friendly.” FUMCLR is one of the few churches in Little Rock that still offer a late service on Christmas Eve.
Because of this, we make our 11:00 pm service a unique experience and not just a later version of our 6:00 pm service. We will heighten the sense of awe and mystery. This year, the sanctuary will be lit almost completely by candlelight, reminding us how the heavenly host of angels broke the darkness, proclaiming the Good News to the Shepherds. At the end of the service, we will sing Silent Night on the church’s front steps, reminding us of how the star announced the birth of Christ to all the world and captured the attention of some wise ones far away. The music and atmosphere will try to capture the intimacy and simplicity of God coming as a humble child.
If this experience intrigues you, We hope you’ll join us at 11:00 pm this Christmas Eve. It’s a great opportunity to invite your friends and neighbors. Experience this unique worship that you can’t get anywhere else. Join us in the Sanctuary on downtown Little Rock at 723 Center Street (corner of 8th & Center),
