Living Legends Luncheon – Carl Miller
Learning the personal faith stories of others strengthens our own faith experience. We find similarities in our experiences. We are inspired by what other’s have been through and their accomplishments. We might even be challenged to live more faithfully. More than anything, knowing one another’s stories foster’s empathy and increases the bonds of love we share. Sharing our faith stories is an essential part of Christian community, as Proverbs reminds us–just as “iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens the wits of another.” This is the idea behind our Living Legend Luncheon series. These are monthly lunch gatherings each summer where long-time members of our church share their faith stories with us. Some of our “legends” share childhood stories. Some share about how they came to be a part of this church and its impact on their lives. Some share family stories. Some share about their careers. Every story tells the bigger story of God’s work in our lives. I hope you’ll come to our Living Legends Luncheons this summer to hear these faith stories and deepen your own.
