Youth
First Youth Mission:
To be faithfully dedicated in all aspects of our lives by existing to share Christ’s love through service as we gather to uplift individuals, learn more about God and have fun!
Visitors Welcome!
FY welcomes youth in grades 8 to 12 to join the fun as each of us walk with Christ in this community of faith! Please feel free to contact Austin Hubbard ahubbard@fumclr.org for more information about First Youth!
First Youth on Sunday Nights
First Youth meets from 5:30-7:00pm. It’s a night where we enjoy dinner, fellowship, games, and a message. On the last Sunday of every month we will watch a movie that is tied to whatever theme we’ve been talking about. Volunteers are needed to provide meals for First Youth on Sunday evenings. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet our fantastic youth! Please contact Ginny McMurray at vlmcmurray@sbcglobal.net to sign up!
SWAG on Wednesday Nights
(Spiritual Words And Games)
Wednesday evening small group gathering. We meet from 5:30-7:30pm in the Youth Studio. SWAG Wednesday’s offers a chance to come and enjoy snacks, play games, talk about your week, do homework, and dig deeper to strengthen our faith. We are currently taking part in “The Kingdom Experiment” A community Practice on Intentional Living. This small group based curriculum is based on the beatitudes and challenges you to think and live out the things that we find ourselves often talking about, but rarely doing. We sometimes go out and serve with different outreach programs during SWAG, but we will always meet at the Youth Studio.
B.O.O.Y.A Team
BOOYA stands for Becoming Our Own Young Apostles and is the leadership council which dreams, plans, and implements all things youth! You will have the opportunity to have a huge impact in shaping what the youth program looks like. There is a space open for anyone who is interested in being a part of the team. Have any questions about it? Just ask a BOOYA member about their experiences at Sunday Conversations or Sunday Night Youth or SWAG! Applications are on the bulletin board outside the Youth Studio. Anyone who will be in grades 8th-12th grade next year are encouraged to apply!
Sunday School 9:55 a.m.
Ok so we do our best to stay as far away of the word SCHOOL on Sundays, so this is a different look at Sunday school. You will find that it’s far from school; there’s no homework, no assignments, and we actually have fun! We engage in faith based discussions and sometimes get hands on with crafts. This year our theme is Myth Busters: Witness Edition- Busting myths about Christianity and inspiring others to do the same, and claiming the truth of what Christian people are really like thus busting some of the false negative images.
